Bearpen
Two days.
One mountain.
Bring a board.
Bearpen Mountain Sports is a family-run outdoor park up in the Catskill Mountains of New York. The grounds that host cross-country skiing in winter open back up in summer, and this year we're putting on an electric skateboard exhibition for a weekend.
The riding happens on a large, flat, open grass field that gets cleared and checked before each day. There's room for you whether it's your first weekend on a board or your hundredth. Come show what you ride and watch what everyone else brought. When you need a break, head into the lodge for a beer, get some food, and catch the live music.
The Field
/ 01Open Grass
One large, flat, mowed grass field. No rocks and no trees. Plenty of space to spread out and ride at your own pace.
Beginner Area
A roped-off corner of the field for first-timers and anyone easing in. Take it slow with plenty of room around you.
Show Zone
A flat stretch set aside for showing off your board and your riding. Pull up, ride through, and let people see what you brought.
On Site
/ 02Not on site
There's no camping or rooms at the venue. You'll want to look at Airbnb, VRBO, or one of the local motels in Prattsville, Windham, Hunter, or Margaretville. Book it sooner than later. These towns get busy in August.
Getting There
/ 03BOARD
Bring your own board
You bring your own electric skateboard to this one. Helmets are required the entire time, no exceptions, and we'd really suggest pads too. Every board gets a quick safety check at the gate before you ride, and you'll sign a waiver at check-in. We keep breathalyzers on site, and anyone who's been drinking sits out.
